To link your PAN (Permanent Account Number) and Aadhaar (Unique Identification Number), you can follow these steps:

1. Go to the income tax e-filing portal at //www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in.

2. Click on the "Link Aadhaar" option under the "Quick Links" section on the left-hand side of the page.

3. Enter your PAN, Aadhaar number, name as per Aadhaar and Captcha code.

4. Click on the "Link Aadhaar" button.

5. On Linking, You have to Pay Rs. 1000/- Aadhar Linking Fees.

6. A pop-up message will confirm the successful linkage of your PAN and Aadhaar. However it will take 2-3 days for linking after making the payment.

Alternatively, you can also link PAN and Aadhaar by sending an SMS to 567678 or 56161 in the following format: UIDPAN<SPACE><12 digit Aadhaar number><SPACE><10 digit PAN>.

It is mandatory to link PAN and Aadhaar to file income tax returns, and failure to do so may result in deactivation of PAN.
